FTC Cracks Down on "Bamboo" Marketing

 February 5, 2010 - For the first time in over a decade the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is revising its guidelines for environmental marketing and hitting companies hard with enforcement.  The biggest issue to date being the mislabeling of rayon clothing as sustainable bamboo, leaving Wal-Mart, Amazon, Target, and 75 other companies with a stern warning to re-label or be sued for green fraud.

Fallon Designs 'Start' Sustainability Logo for the Prince of Wales

February 4, 2010 – Advertising giant Fallon has created a new brand for the Prince of Wales charity alliance, called Start, which is part of The Prince’s Charities’ sustainability initiative.  The website is set to be unveiled today to showcase the campaign.

Clorox Upgrades Product Website with "Ingredients Inside"

 February 3, 2010 – As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, The Clorox Company announced Monday that it is committed to increasing communications through its new product ingredient listing website. www.cloroxcsr.com details the “Ingredients Inside” their products and a glossary of terms for over 230 household and commercial products that are sold in both the U.S. and Canada.

Coca-Cola Goes Green for the Olympics

 February 2, 2010 – The Coca-Cola Company makes its biggest statement of the year with carbon-neutral sponsorship of the Olympic Games in Vancouver.  Through a zero-waste effort that has been in the works since 2006, Coca-Cola will provide 1500 eKOfresh coolers, salvaged wood furniture, Drink2Wear Uniforms, and products that are delivered via hybrid and electric vehicles.

Marks & Spencer Signs on To WWF's Seafood Charter

February 1, 2010 – UK retail giant Marks & Spencer announced yesterday that they have signed the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Seafood Charter, making them the first major retailer to join the campaign.  Intended to encourage sustainable seafood choices and to tackle overfishing in the UK, signing the charter means that all fish sold at M&S will be fromMarine Stewardship Council (MSC) certified stocks within the next five years.
